Kuala Lumpur, 21 July 2020 – Sime Darby Plantation Berhad (SDP) is pleased to announce that an amicable settlement has been reached between the parties in relation to a Judicial Review application made by SDP against the Pengarah Tanah dan Galian Negeri Melaka, Pentadbir Tanah Daerah Jasin, the State Government of Melaka and GI A Resources Sdn Bhd. The Judicial Review application was made back in April 2019 to protect a piece of SDP’s owned land in Mukim Merlimau, Daerah Jasin, Melaka from being compulsorily acquired for the benefit of a foreign-owned company.
Following the settlement, the parties have today recorded a consent order in the High Court which, among others, state the following:
With this consent order, SDP is pleased to announce that its application for the Judicial Review has come to an end and the said land remains a property of SDP.
