Sime Darby Plantation became Malaysia’s first company to win the award, which recognised the Company’s groundbreaking genome initiative to develop oil palms with higher yields, reducing the need for more land.

2024
National Energy Award 2024 - Category: On-Grid-National Grid (Runner-Up)
SD Guthrie TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd (SDGTRe) biogas project at the Kempas Palm Oil Mill, Jasin, Melaka, was awarded Runner-Up in the On-Grid-National Grid category at the National Energy Award (NEA) 2024.
Through this initiative, we captured and utilised approximately 36,824 tCO2-e of methane to generate over 8.4 million kWh of electricity, which was exported to the grid in 2023. The award underscores our commitment to decarbonising our operations and advancing sustainable energy practices, helping Malaysia to achieve its net-zero target by 2050.
GRADUAN Brand Awards 2024 - Category: Conglomerate (1st Runner Up)
SD Guthrie was awarded the 1st Runner Up for Malaysia’s Most Preferred Employer in the Conglomerate Category at the GRADUAN Brand Awards 2024.
The GRADUAN Brand Awards highlight talent preferences in selecting employers, with over 150,000 professionals participating since 2010. The awards identify key factors influencing these preferences and recognise top organisations, including the coveted MALAYSIA’S MOST PREFERRED EMPLOYER, both overall and by sector.

The Edge ESG Awards 2024 - Category (Equities): Best Performer by Sector: Plantation (Silver Award)
SD Guthrie won The Edge ESG Awards 2024 (Silver) for the Best Performer by Sector in Equities within the Plantation category.
The Edge Malaysia ESG Awards 2024 honours public-listed companies (PLCs) and funds in Malaysia for excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. Organised in partnership with Bursa Malaysia and FTSE Russell, with UOB Malaysia as the main partner, the awards now include nearly all Main Market-listed PLCs, reflecting an expanded focus on ESG adoption. The awards have two categories: PLCs, assessed on FTSE4Good’s ESG ratings, and funds based on Morningstar’s Sustainability Rating.
ASEAN Energy Awards 2024 - Category: On-Grid: National Grid (2nd Runner Up)
SD Guthrie is the 2nd Runner-Up in the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA) under the On-Grid: National Grid category.
The recognition was accorded to SD Guthrie - TNB Renewables Sdn Bhd (SDGTRE) for the biogas project at Kempas Palm Oil Mill, Malacca.
This project is part of our commitment to reducing carbon emissions by 50% by 2030. In 2023, the project successfully exported 8,459,109 kWh of electricity to the grid, exceeding the Declared Annual Availability (DAA) with the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), and achieving a carbon reduction of approximately 36,824 tCO2-e for FY2023.

SD Guthrie International won the Globoil’s Global Company of the Year 2024 at the 27th edition of Globoil India.

Indonesia Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) 2024 - Category: CSR and PDB (Pembangunan Desa Berkelanjutan) programme - Community Development Category (Silver Award)
Minamas Plantation received the Silver Award for CSR and PDB (Pembangunan Desa Berkelanjutan) programme in the Community Development Category at the Indonesia Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) 2024.
The Awards celebrate companies and organisations for impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that accelerate village development in Indonesia. This award is a collaborative effort between the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF) and the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration (Kemendesa PDTT). Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Awards 2023 (Platinum Award)
Sime Darby Plantation was bestowed the Platinum Award – the highest accolade – at the Integrity, Governance, and Anti-Corruption Awards 2023.
The AIGA serves as a beacon of recognition, honouring both the public and private sectors in Malaysia that demonstrate exceptional dedication to cultivating and practicing integrity in all aspects of their operations. This year, a total of 154 entries were received, representing 95 public agencies and 59 private organisations from across the country.
2023 National Energy Awards (NEA) - Category 3: Renewable Energy for On-Grid - Local Grid (Winner)
SD Plantation was recognised at the 2023 National Energy Awards (NEA) for our rural electrification project, where we won first place in Category 3 - Renewable Energy, for the On-Grid (Local Grid) type. The project is titled 'Captive Power and Rural Community Electrification via Renewable Energy Sourcing from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), at the Sandakan Bay Biogas Power Plant (SBBPP).’
The NEA has been held annually since 2018 and was set up to recognise leading Malaysian corporations and institutions for adopting game-changing sustainability initiatives in line with the nation’s Just Energy Transition, Net Zero, and sustainable development agenda.
ASEAN Energy Awards 2023 - Renewable Energy: On-Grid (2nd Runner Up)
Sime Darby Plantation Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd (SDPRE) is the 2nd Runner Up in the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards (AEA). The category of the award was Renewable Energy – On-Grid.
The recognition was accorded to SDPRE’s successful rural electrification project called, ‘Captive Power and Rural Community Electrification via Renewable Energy Sourcing from Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME), at the Sandakan Bay Biogas Power Plant (SBBPP)’. SDPRE is a fully owned subsidiary of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad (SDP).
PwC Malaysia's Building Trust Awards 2023 - FBM KLCI (Third Place)
Sime Darby Plantation emerged as Third Place Winner (FBM KLCI) at PwC Malaysia's Building Trust Awards 2023.
PwC Malaysia’s Building Trust Awards is the first in Malaysia that measures companies’ efforts in building trust, beyond the financials of the companies assessed. The awards was conceived in 2015 as a flagship initiative under PwC’s Building Trust programme to encourage Corporate Malaysia to recognise trust building as an asset with tangible gains to the business.

Esri Malaysia GeoInnovation Awards
Sime Darby Plantation's Research team received the Esri Malaysia GeoInnovation award for utilisation of geospatial technology in precision agriculture. The GIS software (web and mobile); Spatial Data Management and Rapid Analytics (SMART), was developed by our Precision Agriculture Unit from Research and Development (R&D), to address Sime Darby Plantation's critical business challenges.

11th Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Malaysia Awards 2022
Sime Darby Plantation’s innovative breakthrough in enzyme application to enhance palm oil recovery saw them crowned as winners of both the Sustainability Award and the Palm Oil Award. Their easily adaptable, low cost, and most importantly, more sustainable process improves palm oil extraction rate as well as increasing revenue.
The winners of the IChemE Malaysia Awards will automatically be entered into corresponding categories at the IChemE Global Awards, to be held in Manchester, UK, on 17 November 2022.

Sime Darby Plantation received the Industry Excellence Award for CG Disclosure at the MSWG-ASEAN Corporate Governance Award 2021
The Award was given to recognise organisations for being leaders in good corporate governance among public listed companies.
PROPER Award 2021
Minamas Plantation, through its subsidiaries PT. Ladangrumpun Suburabadi, PT. Bersama Sejahtera Sakti, PT. Sajang Heulang and PT. Tamaco Graha Krida received the Blue Company Performance Rating Programme (PROPER) Award recognising adherence to environmental management from Indonesia's Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in April 2021.
The PROPER Award is the Indonesian government's effort to encourage companies to comply with environmental management.
Thai Food and Drug Administration Quality Award 2021
Sime Darby Oils (SDO) Morakot Public Co. Ltd. was awarded the Thai Food and Drug Administration Quality Award 2021 for Best Food Manufacturer Quality Standard, Good Governance and Social Responsibility Business.
Being awarded for the second consecutive year, SDO Morakot continues to be at the forefront of high quality and specialised cooking oil production in Thailand.

Sime Darby Plantation received the Sustainable Brand Award during the SME100® Fast Moving Companies Awards 2021.

Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award 2019/2020
Sime Darby Plantation's (SDP) Sua Betong Palm Oil Mill received the Notable Achievement in Environmental Performance Award and the Negeri Sembilan Award for Best Environmental Performance under the Prime Minister's Hibiscus Award 2019/2020.
This is the second year SDP has had the privilege of winning the prestigious Prime Minister's Hibiscus Award following its first win in 2018.
Nasfund Awards 2020 – National Superannuation Fund (Nasfund)
New Britain Palm Oil Limited (NBPOL) received the National Superannuation Fund (Nasfund) Annual Employer Awards 2020 for the second year running. In November 2020, NBPOL was recognised with the "2020 Employer of the Year/Chairman's Awards" and the "2020 Most Compliant in Benefit Payments Awards".
NBPOL was one of 13 employers in Papua New Guinea (PNG) recognised by the awards that acknowledge the support, cooperation, and partnership of Nasfund's contributing employers.
Nasfund is PNG's largest industry fund for professionals in the private sector and government-owned corporations.
No. 1 Brand Award 2020
Sime Darby Oils (SDO) Morakot Public Co. Ltd. cooking oil was voted the most popular cooking oil in Thailand and won the No. 1 Brand Award 2020 by Marketeer Magazine.
SDO Morakot has successfully retained this position and captured the hearts of Thais for six consecutive years.
Sime Darby Oil (SDO) South Africa achieves 100% NDPE compliant oil
SDO South Africa delivered the Company’s commitment of No Deforestation, No Peat and No Exploitation (NDPE) principles in its supply chain. It became the first edible oil and fats producer to import 100% NDPE compliant oil into South Africa, which hit the shores in November 2020.
ASEAN Energy Award 2020
Sime Darby Plantation (SDP) was honoured to be named one of the 15 Malaysian organisations that won accolades at the 2020 ASEAN Energy Awards(AEA).
The AEA 2020 is the highest recognition accorded to Southeast Asia's public and private companies for their contribution to energy development in the ASEAN region.
SDP was named the 2nd Runner Up in the Renewable Energy Awards - On-Grid (Local Grid) category for its project submission titled “Captive Power Generation for KKS Merotai from Renewable Energy derived from Palm Oil Mill Effluent at the Merotai Biogas Power Plant”

Europa Awards for Sustainability– EU–Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EUMCCI) 2019
Sime Darby Plantation took home the award for Best Innovation in Sustainability for Project Metamorphosis. The project involved upcycling a common waste in the plantation industry-fertiliser bags into chairs as part of the circular economy model.
Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) 2019
Sime Darby Plantation was awarded three awards: The Best Supply Chain Management, the Best Land and Biodiversity, and a Special Recognition in the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals category.
Most Innovative Approach to Driving Culture Change Award – OPEX Business Transformation Summit 2019
Sime Darby Plantation’s internally developed programme, War on Waste (WoW), bagged the "Most Innovative Approach to Driving Culture Change" award at the OPEX Business Transformation World Summit 2019 in Orlando, USA. The summit was held from the 21 to 25th January 2019.
Sustainable Business Awards (SBA) 2019
Sime Darby Plantation's pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in meeting the expectations of a wide range of stakeholders in an environmentally, socially and economically responsible manner was recognised with five distinguished awards at the inaugural Sustainable Business Award (SBA) Malaysia held on 29th January 2019. Apart from being declared the Overall Winner that night, SDP also won Sustainability in The Community, Land Use and Biodiversity, Strategy and Sustainability Management and the Supply Chain Management awards.

Environmental Performance – Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award
Sime Darby Plantation was awarded as a sector-leader within the sustainability sphere for its various environmental commitments by the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award. The award first launched in 1996, is the premier private sector environmental award for businesses and industries in Malaysia.
Sustainable Pathfinder Award – Rainforest Alliance
New Britain Palm Oil Limited was recognised by one of the world's renowned environmental NGOs, the Rainforest Alliance, with the "Sustainable Pathfinder Award" for its leadership in responsible palm oil business. The Sustainable Pathfinders Award recognises companies from various industries for the work done to advance sustainable practices. This is the first time that such an award was presented to a company in the palm oil sector.
Superbrands Thailand and No. 1 Brand Thailand 2017–2018 – Superbrands

This award was presented to our Upstream Malaysia's Team Rhimau Selatan for their project titled 'To reduce loose fruit handling cost using CE2 machines.'
PNB Group Innovation Challenge (PGIC) 2018 Winner – Permodalan Nasional Berhad
Sime Darby Plantation's team 'Green Turbo,' from our Renewables unit, Strategy and Innovation Department, received the award for their idea titled 'Energy Self-Sufficiency.'
Young Industrialist Award 2018 – the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE)
Mervin Chew Chien Lye, a senior engineer at Sime Darby Plantation Research Sdn Bhd, was recognised for his work on quality enhancement and efficiency optimisation by IChemE, a multi-national institution with primary offices in the UK and Australia.
Indonesia Operational Excellence Conference and Award (OPEXCON) 2018 – Grand Prize and Gold Award
The OPEXCON Award aims to recognise both state-owned and private companies in Indonesia who have implemented initiatives to improve business processes with maximum and ongoing positive outcomes. PT. Golden Hope Nusantara’s project titled 'To increase the daily yield of its fractionation plant' won this award for its excellent results.
Langkawi Award 2017–2018 – Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) and Department of Environment (DOE)
The Langkawi Award is the highest honour awarded to individuals, organisations and countries with significant contributions to environmental conservation. Sime Darby Plantation is the fourth organisation to receive the award since its introduction in 1991.
SIRIM Quality Award 2018, MNC and GLC Categories – SIRIM
The SIRIM Quality Award aims to recognise organisations that have achieved excellent levels of quality management for their products.
2018 Young Scientist Award (Non–Member Category) – Malaysian Oil Scientists and Technologists Association (MOSTA)
Nur Hidayu Othman won this joint award for her contributions and achievements in scientific and technical studies throughout her eight-year stint in Sime Darby Plantation.

Sime Darby Plantation was Awarded a Bronze Medal for Sustainability Under the Energy and Sustainability Category for the GenomeSelect® Oil Palm Project
Sime Darby Plantation became Malaysia's first company to win the award, which recognised the Company's groundbreaking genome initiative to develop oil palms with higher yields, reducing the need for more land.
Industry Excellence Award for Plantation Category – Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG)
