SD Guthrie Research won the IChemE Global Award 2025 and IChemE Malaysia Awards 2025 in the Innovative Process Award category for their project on “RAPID Tank: Redefining Clarification for the Future of Palm Oil Mills”.
This award recognises the most innovative chemical engineering process to be implemented commercially in the last four years. The IChemE Global Awards are widely recognised as the world’s most prestigious chemical engineering awards.
RAPID tank is a novel, patented, clarification system that uses a horizontal design with internal rods to separate oil from sludge far more efficiently than traditional vertical clarifiers. It significantly accelerates clarification, eliminates the MOH (Mineral Hydrocarbon) critical point, strengthens operational safety, streamlines maintenance requirements, and upholds higher standards of oil cleanliness. SD Guthrie currently operates 11 units across its mills, deployed as standalone systems, in RAPID+ with HSS, or in RAPID SORS configurations.
SD Guthrie secured the no. 1 ranking on the SPOTT index for the palm oil sector in 2025 with a 97.5% transparency score.
The SPOTT (Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit) ESG Transparency Index is a tool developed by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) that tracks the public disclosure of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) policies by commodity producers, processors, and traders. The recognition affirms Guthrie’s commitment to traceability, accountability, and responsible sourcing – key factors for our stakeholders to navigate ESG risks. We remain committed to continuous improvement and contributing to higher standards across the industry.
SD Guthrie received the Gold Award for Plantation Sector at the Edge Malaysia ESG Awards 2025.
