Dr Shariman Alwani Mohamed Nordin

Chief Executive Officer, SD Guthrie International

Dr Shariman Alwani, 54, a Malaysian, was appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SD Guthrie International (SDGI) effective 1 September 2024. Prior to this, he served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SDGI from 1 February to 31 August 2024.

Before assuming the role of COO at SD Guthrie International (formerly known as Sime Darby Oils), he was the Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer of SD Guthrie Berhad (formerly known as Sime Darby Plantation Berhad) from 22 January 2018 to 31 January 2024; and as the Head of Transformation for SDO Europe & Africa from 1 April 2021 to 31 January 2024.

Dr Shariman’s journey with SD Guthrie started when he joined the company as Head, Strategy & Business Development in February 2014. In this capacity, he was responsible for overseeing the Company’s corporate and innovation strategies, as well as driving the Company’s Value Creation and Transformation programmes.

Prior to joining SD Guthrie, Dr Shariman was Senior Vice President, Strategy & Value Management at Sime Darby Berhad. He also served as an Economist at Bank Negara Malaysia from 1992 to 2008 and was Sector Economist in Fidelity Management and Research in Boston, United States of America (USA) from 1999 to 2001.

He holds a PhD in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University’s International Business School, USA and a bachelor's degree in economics from Cambridge University, United Kingdom. Dr Shariman is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
