ASEAN Energy Awards 2026 – Off-Grid Thermal Category
SD Guthrie's co-firing biogas plant at Lavang Oil Mill in Sarawak has been recognised as the 1st Runner-up in the Off-Grid Thermal Category at the ASEAN Energy Awards 2026.
The award-winning project, titled "Pioneering Co-Firing Biogas Plant Utilising Palm Oil Mill Effluent from Lavang Oil Mill to Improve Boiler Efficiency, Deliver Sustainable Thermal Energy and Enhance Biomass Fuel Usage", converts palm oil mill effluent (POME) into renewable thermal energy. The innovative solution improves boiler efficiency, optimises biomass fuel utilisation and contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from mill operations.
