To provide greater transparency into the Group’s earnings drivers and integrated value chain, Guthrie has presented its Midstream and Downstream businesses into separate reporting segments from FY2026. Midstream comprises oil aggregation, CPO bulk processing and PK crushing activities while Downstream focuses on production and sale of refined oils and fats and oleochemical products. In this new structure, the Midstream and Downstream segments recorded PBIT of RM286 million and RM59 million respectively in 9M FY2026. Both segments will continue to operate under the SD Guthrie International brand across its operations in Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Chairman, Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani said:
“Guthrie’s sustained earnings registered in this period under review was driven by disciplined execution across its global business operations. I am confident of the new leadership’s strategy and vision for growth and ability to deliver value for our shareholders.”
President & Group Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Haris Mohd Arshad said:
“Guthrie has delivered another period of strong earnings growth, driven by higher production, resilient commodity prices and stronger contributions from its Industrial Development segment which has provided catalytic growth for the Group. While plantations remain core to Guthrie’s overall strategy, we are focused on building complementary growth engines that enhance earnings resilience, create sustainable long-term value and positions the Group for future growth as a global agribusiness company.”
Outlook for FY2026
CPO prices are expected to remain resilient, with upside potential extending into 2027. While near-term market sentiment may be tempered by elevated inventories and softer export demand, seasonal production declines are likely to reduce inventories over time, underpinning a more constructive pricing environment. Demand continues to be underpinned by Indonesia's B50 biodiesel mandate, while elevated crude oil prices may provide additional support amid geopolitical uncertainties. Evolving El Niño conditions remain a key supply-side risk, given their potential lagged impact on plantation yields and palm oil supply.
Consequently, Guthrie remains focused on enhancing productivity and climate resilience across its Upstream business. The Group will sharpen its focus on Midstream as a strategic bridge between its Upstream and Downstream operations, strengthening oil aggregation, supply chain integration and feedstock security. To strengthen its competitiveness amid challenging market conditions, the Downstream business will continue to build a resilient and competitive portfolio while enhancing operational efficiency. In parallel, milestones announced across the Industrial Development and Renewable Energy segments to date reinforce the Group’s commitment to growing these businesses, which are expected to contribute increasingly to earnings diversification and long-term value creation.
Looking ahead, the Group remains positive on its FY2026 outlook, underpinned by its resilient and integrated business model, disciplined execution and growing contributions from its diversification initiatives. Guthrie continues to maintain operational discipline and agility in navigating the evolving market volatility and weather-related risks.
