Dato' Sri Sharifah Sofianny Syed Hussain, 64, Female, Malaysian, is an Independent Non-Executive Director of SD Guthrie Berhad (Guthrie). She was appointed to the Board of Guthrie on 29 December 2022.
She has amassed vast experience through various leadership roles in stockbroking and Global Banking. She started her career with Shell Malaysia, where she spent 11 distinguished years. Transitioning to the field of stockbroking, she made significant contributions to K&N Kenanga Berhad before joining Maybank Investment Bank Berhad as Deputy Managing Director, Equities. Her exceptional leadership qualities elevated her to the role of Managing Director, Client Coverage at Maybank in early 2014.
Dato' Sri Sharifah Sofianny previously served on the Board of Petroliam Nasional Berhad and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) (KWAP). She was also Chairman of KWEST Sdn Bhd, the property arm of KWAP. She currently sits on the boards of companies within the Maybank Group, namely Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, Maybank Capital, Inc., and Maybank Securities, Inc.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri, Columbia, United States, and is an esteemed alumna of the prestigious London Business School, United Kingdom.
