Anil Abraham

Anil Abraham, 44, Male, Malaysian, was appointed Group General Counsel of SD Guthrie Berhad (formerly known as Sime Darby Plantation Berhad) (SD Guthrie) on 1 February 2024. Anil also oversees the Group Risk Management function from 1 March 2025.

He commenced his legal career in London where he trained and qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales. He practised corporate law at two international law firms in London before returning to Malaysia.

Prior to joining SD Guthrie, Anil was the General Counsel of UEM Edgenta Berhad and before that he was the Head of Legal at Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad.

As an accomplished general counsel, Anil has provided guidance to boards, executive teams, managed external counsel, and navigated legal complexities to achieve business and operational objectives. His legal expertise encompasses mergers & acquisitions, corporate law, litigation, corporate governance, contract management, and other operational issues.

Anil holds a Bachelor and Master’s of Laws from King’s College London; and completed his Master’s in Business Administration at École Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC).
